Regional Tourism Awards
The North East England Tourism Awards, organised by One NorthEast, will be rewarding leading individuals and attractions, which represent the area's thriving tourism industry. Entries to this years awards have topped all previous records, with the winners set to be honoured at a glittering ceremony on October 19 at the Stadium of Light.
Short listing has been completed and the judges are now set to get out and about visiting the tourism businesses on the list. Eighteen separate awards are being given out at the event, ranging from Best Bed and Breakfast and Best Hotel to the Best Family Experience and Vsitor Pub of the Year. National Advertising Campaign
We have had over 11,500 requests for the regional holiday and short breaks guide in response to the National Advertising activity that we delivered through the summer period.
Walking Campaign
Following its launch on the 4th August, the second phase of the walking campaign has generated over 5,500 direct requests for the walking guide and over 80,000 unique visitors to the walking section of our www.visitnorthumbria.com/walking. We will be distributing 80,000 copies of the walking guide in total.
Autumn Campaign
We wrote to all accommodation providers asking them to participate in our special offer driven campaign. We have had over 100 organisations from all around the region taking up the offer. Promotional activity will commence during October and will run through until the New Year. All the offers featured in this campaign will be shown on our website www.visitnortheastengland.co.uk/offers
2006 Short Break and Holiday Guide
There has been fantastic take up from accommodation and attractions throughout the region for the advertising opportunities available in next years guide. The new guide will feature our range of stunning new regional photography. Development of the guide is on track and will launch in December 2005.
2006 Group Guide
Work is nearing completion on the 2006 Groups guide. The guide features stunning new photography from around the region and aims to encourage group and trade operators to offer North East England as a destination.
2006 Education Guide
The 2006 Education guide will be launched during November 2005. The guide, which links to the National Curriculum is aimed at the education sector, offering itineraries and ideas that promote the regions many and varied attractions and destinations.
Group Travel Roadshows
The first event of 2005 was held on Tues 27th Sept at Newby Hall & Gardens. The event was a big success with 19 exhibitors from all around the region and over 70 group and travel operators and professionals. The next events are at the City of Manchester Stadium on 28th October and then at the Tower Thistle in London on 5th December.
