TTG Rimini reaches Italian trade
The region attended the TTG Rimini International Exhibition in Italy last week to showcase North East England to Italian press and trade. The event was a great success with tour operators, agents and carriers attending a dedicated presentation and networking event, as well as visiting the stand to hear why North East England is a first class touring destination for Italian visitors.
Film to Family attractions entice Dutch press
Together with DFDS Seaways and England’s North Country, North East England has hosted two press visits from Holland this month. Roelien Ross and Anja Sikkenga, from Northern Holland based Boom Uitgevers, travelled the region’s film and literature locations including Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle, Durham Cathedral, Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience and Seven Stories Centre for Children’s Books. Meanwhile journalist Elly Welgraven travelled to the region to sample our variety of family attractions, including the Discovery Museum and Beamish Open Air Museum, for family publication Groter Groeien. Tourism Business Panel Shares Experience
Over 100 tourism businesses have signed up to a Business Panel to share their experience on trade and to gauge business confidence over a 12-month period.
Between July and September 2006, 58% of businesses on the panel said business levels were higher in the third quarter of 2006, compared to the same period in 2005. A further 24% said business was the same as last year and only 17% said business had decreased. A significant proportion of respondents put the increase down to business expansion, along with the fine weather and marketing.
When asked about confidence levels for the coming three months (Oct – Dec), 53% felt that business would have increased on the same period last year, while 31% expected no change.
The Tourism Business Panel Quarter 3 report will be available online from Monday. Click here to view the results.
