Award-Winning Attraction Success

The Award-Winning Attractions campaign aimed at raising the profile of our region's high quality attractions, and as a visitor destination, consisted of inserts into national press, press advertising linked to GNER train fare offers, a postcard competition in 6 local papers and a week-long Century Radio promotion. Results and enquiries into the campaign were extremely positive, notably 9000 competition entries were received during this period and the radio promotion resulted in over 2.4 million impacts.

New Promotion for Walking and Cycling Friendly Accommodation

Work is underway to produce a new leaflet to promote those businesses that are part of the 'Walkers and Cyclists Welcome' accreditation scheme. The short guide will be used as part of a direct mail pack to our database of visitors who are interested in the region's outdoor product and also as an insert into all future requests for the Walking and Cycling guides.

For further information please contact caroline.adams@onenortheast.co.uk

Walking

Over the past fortnight, as part of the walking media campaign, 56,000 promotional inserts have run in Trail magazine. Over 8000 individual requests have been received since March and over 106,000 walking guides have been distributed since the launch of the walking campaign in 2005.

For further information please contact caroline.adams@onenortheast.co.uk

Cycling

1st burst of the media campaign is complete. Over 2,500 new Cycling guides have been requested with over 14,000 out in the marketplace. Specialist cycling magazines have provided a good return on investment, and the next insertion of nearly 230,000 promotional leaflets will take place in early September.

Gardens

International marketing activity

Region welcomes Dutch winners

Following the region's attendance at Vakantiebeurs international exhibitions earlier this year, where a 'Win a Luxury Break' competition was held, the international team welcomed their first competition winners from Holland. The prize included a return crossing on DFDS Seaways, two nights at Gisborough Hall Hotel and free entry to both The Alnwick Garden and Hartlepool's Maritime Experience. The winners, Rob and Toos Drupsteen, also travelled the length of the region's coast, packing as much as possible into their stay. The couple enjoyed their visit so much, they already plan to come back later in the summer. Thank you to everyone who made the visit a huge success. If you would like to more about the winners stay or offer prizes for future competitions please contact helen.moderate@onenortheast.co.uk

Meet the Dutch trade

The international team were represented in Holland at a Meet the Trade event, organised by VisitBritain, earlier this week. The event gave the region an opportunity to build awareness of North East England as a holiday destination and meet with Dutch tour operators and agents keen to extend their holiday programme to include the regions attractions and accommodation. If there are any tourism businesses interested in working with international trade, please contact helen.mcloughlin@onenortheast.co.uk for further information.
