Early 2006 campaign

The early 2006 campaign launches this month with a whole range of activity including:

  • Direct mail to 53,000 contacts from our database
  • Emailer to 10,000 contacts from our database
  • Brochure panels targeting over 18 million readers in titles such as Radio Times; TV Times; Plan a Break; Readers Digest
  • Over 1 million inserts into quality nationals including: Saturday Times, Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian, Mail on Sunday and specialist magazines
  • Regional Press activity in My Travel supplements targeting Derbyshire; Sheffield; Doncaster; Yorkshire; Harrogate and Burnley.

Eating Out Guide

As sponsors, we have been working with The Journal on their Eating Out Guide due to be launched prior to Christmas.  The Guide will be available from Wterstones, WH Smith and a range of other local retailers across the region for a price of £4.99. 

Great Outdoors Show 2006

We will shortly be writing out to invite partners to join us on the North East England stand at The Outdoors Show taking place 17-19 March in Birmingham.  It is a great opportunity to promote the region's fantastic outdoor product.  If you would like further information about the Show please contact Katherine Hodgson on 0191 229 6847.

Experience Newsletter

We are always looking for new stories to include in Experience - our tourism newsletter that goes out each month to over 1500 businesses in the region.  If you have any interesting articles or stories to share then please contact Val Lowther on 0191 229 6852.

British Travel Trade Fayre

Designs have been developed for the North East England stand at British Travel Trade Fayre.  Partners were approached this week about taking space on the stand and we have already received several confirmations.  If you would like further information about this event which is taking place in Birmingham on the 1st and 2nd March 2006 please contact Denise Wigham on 0191 229 6845.

Top Tours

The Top Tours that are produced for the Groups market are currently being rebranded in line with the new brand architecture for North East England.  They will be available from February 2006.

Cheque Book

We are working on a Cheque Book for the Groups market that will provide a range of special offers.  If you are interested in finding out more information about how to get involved please contact Denise Wigham on 0191 229 6845.

International Marketing Suite of Materials

The team are currently developing the region's first suite of international materials including a taster brochure (translated for all our key markets); a Tool Kit for our contacts within VisitBritains overseas offices supplying them with images and copy that they can use to promote North East England in their respective markets; landing pages on visitnortheastengland.co.uk for all international markets - the pages will promote our key messages and will be translated; and a suite of adverts that can be used to target our international audience.

International Exhibitions

Work continues to finalise the arrangements for the international trade and consumer exhibitions we are attending with partners:

Reiseliv, Norway: 12-15th January
Reiseklar, Norway: 19-22nd January
Dublin Holiday World: 26-29th January
ACTIEF Outdoors Show, Netherlands: 18-19th February
BIT, Milan: 18-21st February
ITB, Berlin: 8-12th March

We will be taking a range of literature to each exhibition including: 2006 Holiday and Short Breaks Guide; the new Taster brochure, the Walking Guide and the Special Offers Leaflet that supports the Autumn Campaign.  Press packs are also being collated which will include a selection of goodies from the region.

In addition to the exhibitions we are attending we will also be sending literature to other exhibitions that are being held across the world including Sweden, America, Canada and Australasia.
