Tees Valley leads Visit Britain’s photography exhibition
A photography exhibition to showcase Britain’s spectacular coast and countryside opens at London’s Oxo Tower Warf this March. The collection aims to remind everyone how astounding our landscape can be, revealing a remarkable range of dazzling scenery taken by some of Britain’s finest landscape photographers such as Rod Edwards, David Sellman and the award winning Joe Cornish. Publicity material for the exhibition centres around a single stunning image of Boulby Cliffs in Tees Valley. To find out more visit www.oxotower.co.uk/Britainonview.html

INTERNATIONAL MARKETING ACTIVITY
Promote your product to an international audience
The International team is currently planning high-profile campaigns in the Dutch, Norwegian, German and Cruise market which will be delivered this Spring. This will consist of a mixture of online, offline and printed publications.
A big element of all our campaign activity will be data capture so we can continue to communicate special offers and new developments with potential visitors. To achieve this, we will be promoting the opportunity to win a luxury trip to North East England wherever possible.
If you would like to be involved in these campaigns by offering competition prizes including accommodation, free entry to attractions or complimentary meals, please contact marissa.buckingham@onenortheast.co.uk and confirm your interest by Friday 16 February.
All partners who offer competition prizes will be entitled to receive the names and email addresses of those entrees who have opted to receive future communications from North East England partners. We will update you on these campaigns in future editions of e-bulletin.
German Walking Campaign
This April, North East England together with the North West and Yorkshire, will feature in a specially designed supplement in the German magazine, Wander Walking.
Two walks in the region including Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland and the Sunderland coast have been chosen by the editor who visited last year. An image from each of the four sub-regions will also appear to encourage potential visitors to experience the diversity of walking routes in North East England. Hadrian’s Wall has been chosen as the single lead image for the entire supplement.
A free pocket guide will also be produced with the magazine. Both publications will promote the www.visitnortheastengland.com/de website for more information on accommodation and www.visitnortheastengland.com/walking to find out about other fantastic walks in the region.
Wander Walking magazine is sold in most German retailers and has a circulation of 48,000. For more information contact marissa.buckingham@onenortheast.co.uk

TRAVEL TRADE
New Group Travel Guide well received at Great Days Out
The Travel Trade department took the new group travel guide to the Great Days Out Fair on February 3rd. Great Days Out is widely considered the largest one-day group travel show in the country, and this year saw significant interest in the excellent group attractions throughout the region. There was considerable praise from the trade for the new TV advert, and the 2007 Group Travel Guide was well received as being vital to tour planning and an important part of North East England’s promotional package. Marketing Manchester who organised the event were very pleased with this year’s attendance, and North East England received a host of enquiries from new and existing contacts, which are being followed up with additional information this week.
The conversion report for the 2006 ‘Stand Out from the Crowd’ Group Travel Guide has now been completed, giving a valuable insight into the success of the amount of business that has been generated through it. The research showed that 75% of all accommodation used by the group travel industry was advertised in the guide, and that an impressive £3.95 million of direct spend has been generated.
A copy of the guide will soon be available online, but in the meantime for more information on the ‘Stand Out from the Crowd’ report please contact chris.amson@onenortheast.co.uk.

VISITOR SERVICES UNIT
Call Goes Out for Online Images
Following our successful Accommodation Image Project, almost 90% of accommodation providers displayed on the regional visitor website, www.visitnortheastengland.com, now have at least one promotional image. What's more, through the links between Desti.ne and EnglandNet, these images are shown on www.visitbritain.com and www.enjoyengland.com. The success of the project means that North East England has more accommodation businesses displaying an image through VisitBritain websites than any other region in the country.
