New Visitor Websites for North East England
The Tourism New Media team has recently developed a suite of new activity and attraction based websites for the region to coincide with key tourism marketing campaigns. These sites have been developed using the Desti.ne Enterprise Content Management System and are powered by the Desti.ne product database.
Cycling: www.visitnortheastenglandcom/cycling
Gardens: www.visitnortheastengland.com/gardens
Walking: www.visitnortheastengland.com/walking
The team has also developed two new Area Tourism Partnership visitor websites.
County Durham Tourism Partnership: www.visitcountydurham.com
visitTeesvalley: www.visitteesvalley.co.uk
These are the first of four ATP visitor information websites to go live with Tourism Tyne & Wear and Northumberland Tourism due to go live in June.
25% Increase in Site Visitors
In April the traffic to www.visitnortheastengland.com, the regional visitor website, increased by 25% over last month’s figures. The site welcomed over 40,000 unique visitors to the website with a total of 700613 pages viewed. An estimated 76.8% of these visitors added the website to their personal favourite lists. April also saw over 1400 brochures ordered through the website.
On the Horizon
The Tourism New Media team is currently developing a regional online business toolkit due to go live in October. The website will be the ultimate resource for tourism businesses and will host a number of tourism industry firsts such as on-site speech enabled pages for enhanced accessibility. The team is also working closely with a number of local authorities and partnerships to incorporate Desti.ne product searches onto their own websites. This will ensure the consistency and quality of tourism product information in Desti.ne database can be shared across websites developed outside of the agency. For more information please contact Jason Yip.
Desti.ne Frontdesk - Quarter of a Million Milestone!
Online bookings in the NorthEast have exceeded the quarter of a million pound mark. From the launch of the Desti.ne Frontdesk offer in autumn of last year, the total value of online bookings for the Region has reached a staggering £318,200!
This reinforces continuing trends that more and more visitors want to book and pay for accommodation and attraction tickets on line. Desti.ne is at the forefront of meeting this increasing demand with ongoing development to make sure it will continue to do so.
