Tourism Marketing Update - 03.02.2006
North East England's first ever TV campaign
The first ever television advert promoting North East England, its spectacular coast and countryside, vibrant cities, rich history and passionate people will be aired on 14 February 2006. The commercial follows the journey of a couple through the region as they discover our spirited people, breathtaking landscapes, modern cities and iconic landmarks. Directed by acclaimed international director, Adrian Moat, born in North Shields, the advert is in the final production stages. This is an exciting step forward in promoting North East England as a tourist destination.
International Market Update
Willkommen and more to www.visitnortheastengland.co.uk
Our overseas visitors will receive an international welcome when they log on to the visitor and holiday website - www.visitnortheastengland.co.uk, where information about the region is now available in German, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch and Swedish.
The translated content, including a general overview of North East England, how to get to the region and key information on where to go, what to see and where to stay, is accessible via individual country flags.
Research shows that overseas visitors are much more receptive to a message when the destination attempts to communicate a proportion of it in their mother tongue. It is anticipated that, in the future, the full site will be translated into German, which will be a huge benefit in promoting the region to this lucrative market.
The International Tourism Marketing Team are promoting the website at exhibitions across Europe during early 2006 and throughout a new taster brochure - 'The Essential Guide to North East England'. We are also working alongside the industry and with our national and regional partners to find innovative and exciting ways to market North East England as a first choice holiday destination to our international markets.
For more information or to request a copy of 'The Essential Guide to North East England', available in English, German, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch and Swedish please contact Helen Moderate on 0191 229 6921.
Enjoy North East England
The EnjoyEngland Touring Guide and England's North Country Guide were both launched last month during the exhibition season. For the first time ever both guides cover the North East England region and provide visitors with excellent tips on tour itineraries, attractions, places to eat and drink and places to stay to suit all budgets. The guides will be distributed across Europe and in key long haul destinations including North America, Canada, China, New Zealand and Australia. To request a copy of either guide please contact Phil Marshall on 0191 229 6925 or email Philip.marshall@onenortheast.co.uk
Next stop... Milan!
North East England will be represented at the upcoming Exhibition in Milan from Feb 18-21. To make the most of our visit, the region is sponsoring a press and trade reception during which we will be serving a Passionate Cocktail and inviting key press to visit the region later this year. We've also teamed up with Jet2 who will be on our stand promoting the new Pisa to Newcastle route, which starts in the spring.
Norwegian Travel Trade update
Last month the team was kindly invited by FjordLine to present our new product offer to the Norwegian travel trade and press. The event was extremely successful and has resulted in a number of operators interested in visiting North East England in early spring to experience what the region has to offer. Going forward we will be working with FjordLine over the coming months to create packages and itineraries for visitors helping them to get the very best out of their visit.
