Tourism Marketing Update - 22.07.05
22nd July 2005
Walking Campaign
The first walking campaign has been very successful, with over 9500 requests for the walking guide to date. The second guide will be launched in early August in partnership with TTTV as part of their Britain on the Move campaign
The second guide will feature 23 walks throughout the region and looks to encourage visitors to take in the regions attractions as part of their walking holiday.
We are printing 80,000 guides which will be supported by a high profile media campaign that will target people interested in walking through a combination of inserts and advertising in national media and consumer press and online activity. We will develop a national PR programme that will target specialist magazines and national media.
National Advertising Campaign
The objective of our national advertising campaign is to raise awareness of North East England as a destination for short breaks and summer holidays.
The summer promotional activity began in earnest on July 11th and aims to encourage more visitors to the region during the summer months. The campaign consists of a variety of display and classified advertising in national press and specialist magazines and over 1.5 million inserts in national media and consumer press. The campaign is supported by a considerable online presence.
We have received well over 600 requests for the regional holiday and short breaks guide in the week since the summer campaign launched.
Regional Media Campaign
Bradley O'Mahoney has been appointed as our agency to deliver the regional media campaign. This campaign is all about working with the region's media to encourage local people to move around during the summer months. We have had an excellent take up from our regional attractions and accommodation providers in response to our offer to become part of this campaign. If you haven't responded to our offer to feature in this campaign then please contact a member of the Tourism Marketing team. The campaign will run throughout July and August.
2006 Holiday and Short Breaks Guide
Work is well underway on developing the holiday and short breaks guide for 2006. We will be contacting you very shortly to see if you wish to take up any of the fantastic advertising opportunities available in next year's guide. We will print 180,000 copies of the guide which will be supported by our biggest Tourism Marketing campaign to date.
Group Travel Roadshows
North East England group travel roadshows will take place later this year at some of the UK's top group attractions. We have chosen three outstanding venues to host this year's events targeting group operators from both the day trip, short break and long stay tour markets.
Newby hall and Gardens (near Ripon) 27th September
City of Manchester Stadium 28th October
London Tower Thistle Hotel 5th December
By joining us at the roadshows you can give your organisation an opportunity to show what you can offer as part of the North East England experience. For more information contact Denise Wigham on 0191 229 6845
