In March 2004 Northumbria Tourist Board was transferred to One North East. This coincided with the transfer of strategic responsibility for tourism from the English Tourism Council to the UK's regional development agencies.

Part of our responsibilities as strategic lead for regional tourism includes development of the Visitor Economy Strategy. 

The Visitor Economy Strategy for North East England 2010 – 2020 Consultation Draft sets out an inspiring vision for the region's tourism economy in 2020, and what the region, collectively, will need to do to get there.

The consultation period for the Strategy will run from Thursday 10th December 2009 to Sunday 7th March 2010.

You can now access, an online survey posing a series of structured questions on general content and the roles and responsibilities for delivery of the Strategy.  Click here to access the survey.

During the consultation period, feedback will also be gathered from stakeholders following presentation of the strategy at stakeholder groups.

One North East has appointed a North East Tourism Advisory Board. This is made up of between 10 and 18 people and will oversee the support and development of tourism businesses and attractions across the North East.
