Ruth Thompson OBE

Ruth Thompson OBE is the former Group Corporate Director of  National Grid plc, and former Director for the North of England gas distribution networks for Transco plc, which was pivotal in the the transformation of the gas industry.

She is a member  of the Education, Skills and Employment committee and the Business Development Committee, and represents the Agency on the regional Science and Industry Council.  She is a Non Executive Director of Northern Ireland Water Limited, North East Strategic Health Authority and University of Northumbria.

As a former Chair of the North East Employers Coalition , she is keen to promote opportunities for people to become the best they can be. She is very positive about the region’s potential to achieve economic and social success and is pleased to be playing a part in its future development.

Ruth received her OBE in 2002.
