Dance City, Newcastle

Dance City welcomes all kinds of people with a passion for all kinds of dance. Opened in the autumn of 2005, Dance City’s pioneering £7.6m centre for dance has given the organisation the perfect home from which to develop and drive dance forward as one of the most exciting art forms of the 21st Century.

Dance City sits in the heart of the regeneration of the Discovery Quarter in Newcastle.

The Discovery Quarter is already making a substantial contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the City. Over the next ten to fifteen years, the site will comprise of:

• The largest remaining opportunity for expansion of the City Centre. There is a strong interest in office development in this area
• A focus for the knowledge economy and in particular the bioscience/biomedical sector – A focus for City Centre tourism, particularly through the Discovery Museum
• Part of the City’s evening economy; there is demand from a range of leisure operators, including the casino sector
• A strategic transport hub, with a series of road and rail links converging in the study area.
