Plugged in Places

Charge Your Car is the North East’s Plugged in Places project which aims to roll-out electric vehicle charging points across the region. North East England is one of three places chosen as a front-runner in the trialling and adoption of electric car charging infrastructure. The project is funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).

A total of 1,300 charging points will be installed across the region over the next three years on streets, in car parks, at residential and commercial locations and at retail and leisure facilities.

Over 60 partners are now supporting this project, ranging from all twelve local authorities, Universities and transport providers as well as private businesses.

Grant funding contribution available

By signing up to the project, businesses and organisations across the North East are being offered a 50% grant funding contribution towards the procurement, installation and commissioning of standard electric vehicle charging points around North East England. Once suitable locations have been agreed the project will procure the charging posts on behalf of the host.
