Investors in People
Investors in People (IiP) is a national standard for managing and developing people. To gain recognition employers have to show that they support and develop staff in a way that contributes effectively to the achievement of the organisational objectives. Once the award is achieved organisations have to show continuous improvement against the Standard in order to maintain recognition.
IiP provides a framework for ensuring best practice in the management and development of people at work. This framework also helps in the process of managing change and the analysis will help us to benchmark against best practice and identify future improvement activities.
One North East were initially assessed and awarded the standard in 2006. In May 2009, Investors in People changed their recognition process to give more flexibility and choice to organisations while maintaining the integrity of the basic standard. These changes are designed to provide greater ‘stretch’ for organisations and to recognise organisations who meet the additional criterion with either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
In November 2009 the Agency was re assessed against the revised standard and achieved the Gold Award after meeting a further 126-point criterion. In addition the Agency has also been named an Investor in People Champion – becoming one of a select group of role model organisations that will help firms in their respective regions to improve their performance through effective workforce management.
To ensure that One North East continues to perform to this internationally recognised quality, standard action plans are developed to ensure progress is maintained.
