Improving the Agency

One North East is continuing its journey towards being a fit for purpose organisation, staffed by people with the skills, experience and personal qualities needed to achieve our vision of being the best economic regeneration agency in the UK.
This involves continual change and development, so it is important to monitor and steer this progress. We embarked on our programme of change in August 2005.
There are six priority areas within One North East's change management programme:
- Embedding our Vision & Values
- Project Handling
- Investors in Excellence
- Project Management
- Customer Service
- Individual Performance Review
This page briefly outlines the purpose of each of these areas to show how the Agency is committed to providing a better service to all stakeholders.

Successful organisations are characterised by strong values and a powerful guiding vision.
The aim of this initiative is to explain and embed One North East’s vision and values in everything we do. It will ensure that our values are understood and supported by everyone, and are translated into how we work together and interact with people outside the Agency..
Our Vision:
‘To be the best economic regeneration agency in the UK’
Our Values:
- Aspiration to be the best
- Pride and respect
- Openness and honesty
- Commitment and responsibility

The aim of this has been to create a simpler process for funding development projects. Our new process has a clear focus on the needs of our customers while also improving the way the Agency conducts it business.
This has now been completed and the new process is shown by clicking through to the Project Handling pages.

Investors In Excellence (IiE) will ensure that the Agency performs its work to an internationally recognised standard. It is about aiming for excellence in everything that we do and always looking for ways that we can improve.
The Agency has embarked on an essential journey to define our fundamental ways of working and the results we achieve. This links into our preparations for the external inspection of our work under the Independent Performance Assessment process. The Investors in Excellence project will examine where the Agency is now in terms of the Investors in Excellence standard. It will then set out actions improving the Agency’s performance against the nine areas of the standard.
These areas are:
Enablers
- Leadership
- Policy and strategy
- People
- Partnership and resources
- Processes
Results
- Customer results ]
- People results
- Society results
- Key performance results
One North East is committed to achieving the Investors in Excellence award in 2007.

This is about improving our relationships with one another within the Agency and with our external customers. The emphasis is on improving our overall service and therefore developing our reputation and image.
The project team will be looking specifically at the following areas:
- Reception
- Telephone
- Online communication
- Written communication
- Protocol for meetings
- Management of corporate data
