This is the steering group for IGNITE, the Regional Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Communities. 

IGNITE is being developed in line with Government policy, to address best practice issues identified in the Urban White Paper 2000 relating to Quality of Place; the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy 2001; the Sustainable Development Plan 2003; and the need to address skills to deliver sustainable communities as promoted by the Egan Review (2004). 

IGNITE’s vision statement is “to inspire the desire to create lasting places where people aspire to live and work"
