GRD Awards 2009
The 2009 awards followed up on the successful launch of the Grant for Research and Development North East Awards in 2007. We were pleased to be able to host the Awards Dinner at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle, which provided an inspirational setting to showcase the best of the North East innovations, past and present. The awards considered companies offered Grant for Research and Development grants in 2007 and 2008, which represented bumper years for offers with R&D activity high in the region, making the competition fierce.
The Dinner was hosted by Margaret Fay, Chairman of One North East. Alan Clarke, Chief Executive of One North East presented the awards. Kim Inglis compered the night, and the after-dinner speech was given by Dr Adam Hart-Davis.

The winners of the awards were decided by a five man judging panel, consisting of One North East staff from three separate business-facing teams, and two independent technical and commercial experts.
