What you need to know
Brazil is a country of continental size and potential. It has largely transformed its economic performance over the last 15 years and is now one of the most rapidly developing economies in the world. It is politically and economically stable (Brazil's country risk is at an all-time low), and it has huge potential. It has the world’s fifth largest population and its US$1 trillion economy, the tenth largest in the world, represents almost half of South America's total GDP. (Sao Paulo’s economy alone is bigger than that of Argentina and Chile combined).
There is also a growing middle class in Brazil who have real spending power and who appreciate high quality merchandise. If a product or service is generally competitive in world markets it is also likely to be so in Brazil.
To take advantage of these opportunities we are taking a selected group of companies interested in exploring the business opportunities on a Market Visit. If your company has serious intentions to tackle the Brazilian market this opportunity could be for you. UKTI Brazil is running a promotion stand at Informex exhibition and translated literature will be provided for companies attending the Market Visit.
The visit organised by UK Trade & Investment is in conjunction with NEPIC is part of the previous phase of activity carried out between the region and contacts in Brazil; with a clear focus on the advantages that come from the Memorandum of Understanding recently signed between NEPIC and the Suape region. The Suape project below is an opportunity which is at the very least worth investigating as this size of project is rare in world terms and is in a region of Brazil which has a positive communication route with the North East of England business community.
There is also a newly announced project in the South East of Brazil (Porto Alegre) mirroring the Suape project in size and opportunity – it is the intention for the mission to include this major opportunity.
The visit is open to all industry sectors but the key sectors include; organic chemicals; professional scientific instruments; pharmaceutical products; petrochemical, oil & gas; ports & logistics, ship building/repair engineering construction and all related services.
