The Greenhouse, Greencroft Industrial Park
Through the County Durham Sub-Regional Partnership Programme, One NorthEast has invested around £2.8 million in the Greenhouse Project at Greencroft Industrial Park, Annfield Plain, County Durham.
The scheme has been delivered by Groundwork West Durham, a leading environmental regeneration charity making sustainable development a reality in communities in the UK, which are in need of investment and support. This a pioneering project to create a managed business centre of 2,300 square metres (25,000 sq ft) together with 1,160 square metres (12,500 sq ft) of linked offices as part of a sustainable energy concept. The project features a range of sustainable construction techniques including ground source heating/cooling, a wind turbine and photovoltaic roof panels with the intention that the development achieves an “excellent” BREEAM rating.
The development was completed in Spring 2006 and has created space for 16 small businesses and the opportunity for 70 jobs. The office element has been pre-let to Derwentside Primary Healthcare Trust, safeguarding 60 jobs in the Annfield Plain area.
